As noted in IEA Wind's Recommended Practice 12, different countries have different rules, for example on acceptable noise levels and legal product requirements. To help Swedish consumers, the Swedish Wind Power Association has on http://www.svensk-vindkraft.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=72&Itemid=70 published information about small wind turbines. There you can also find links to more information on this topic, all in Swedish. This includes films about small wind turbines and recommendations regarding use of the international consumer label for small wind turbines.
Hope that the small wind turbines going through testing for the label will soon be able to apply it. We are anticipating wind turbines and corresponding labels to be listed on http://www.ieawind.org/task_27/labeled_wind_turbines.html

Can your site achieve this 2.5*Vave requirement?
If the IEC 61400-2 duration test would require a single 10-minute average (of contiguous data) that is greater than or equal to 2.5*Vave, will your site achieve this during a 12-month period?
2.5*Vave is:
Class 1 = 25.0 m/s
Class 2 = 21.3 m/s
Class 3 = 18.8 m/s
Class 4 = 15.0 m/s
Please answer yes/no for each class and provide an explanation.

Welcome to SWAT
Welcome international small wind turbine test sites to the newly created Small Wind Association of Testers (SWAT).
If you would like to be able to post to this blog, please email Brent at summervilleb@gmail.com.
Until that time, please use this blog to:
- express your intent, as a small wind tester, to join this group
- learn about round robin opportunities and endeavors
- post face-to-face meeting events for SWAT members
- post questions and share lessons learned
